What’s the feeling when you exhale? Or when you inhale? How are they different?
In the best of circumstances the exhale feels like a soft sigh of relief. And the inhale feels expansive, spacious and full.
In another scenario you might be struggling for a breath; grasping and straining to fill your lungs.
There’s no ambiguity, the body never lies. You are either getting oxygen to your cells, or you are not.
Taking a breath has become oddly political. It seems to be one more opportunity to separate into ‘us versus them’ tribalism. Face masks and taking a breath has turned into; personal freedom, social justice and decent kindness.
In this age of ‘alternative facts’ and ‘fake news’, a basic biological function like breathing has turned into conflict and confusion.
Body awareness effortlessly melts away layers of confusion. The way the lungs empty and fill. The way the skin feels when touched. The whiff of a scent. The taste of a yummy dessert. These are all basic biology, that makes life worth living.
As you inhale, you expand, open, and experience spaciousness. Peace, relief and ease will effortlessly follow on the exhale.
Within all this social and political confusion, what’s really going on? What’s true? What’s fake? Who and what can you trust?
The body never lies. YOU CAN TRUST YOUR BODY.
