These words (taken from a recent podcast where Bill Gates discusses his former rival and colleague) are fabulous.
Gates freely admits, “I wish I could be as magical (as Jobs) because I have causes, that are in some ways more impactful and I need to make sure they don’t get ignored.”
Lots of motivational speakers have been talking about ‘mindset’ and ‘make it happen’ for many many years. Yet for me, there’s one essential ingredient missing from all this law of attraction, Napoleon Hill, Tony Robbins motivational talk.
The body. The wisdom and the innate intelligence of your body.
I grew up around some very charismatic and very famous performing artists. I danced professionally. I taught stage presence at Santa Fe University. And one thing I know for sure; presence is an embodied art. It emanates from a body that is free from anxiety, worry and self-judgement.
A former student recently reconnected and said:
“In my time working with you, I found a deep sense of fulfillment and growth that has never been rivaled before or after. When I first met you, I struggled to find my ‘center’ and voice. You challenged me to consciously think critically every day, to go out with awareness and open my body, and my mind to the world around me.
Over time I felt taller, prouder, more in control and relaxed. I no longer felt inclined to listen to my inner anxiety, fear and worry. I felt a new power. I experienced self-control. Self-confidence. Self-worth. My artistic choices no longer seemed forced and my interactions less vapid.
To this day, when I find myself in moments of doubt, I turn to your teachings, breathe and drop into my ‘center’, and for that moment, I’m no longer sitting on the cliff’s edge in anxious anticipation – I’m soaring! I’m grounded. I am able to focus and calm my mind. I am able to find a steady confident ‘center’ in my tasks & objectives!”
What audience do you need to reach? What impact do you need to make?
Your body is the key.
When you need the tools and support to move from fear and anxiety to effective action, give me a call.
With Gratitude,
